Dubai RTA Car Theory Test Practice

Prepare for the Dubai car knowledge test with five 25-question practice sets, explanations and links to the RTA handbook.

Car practice

Choose your emirate

Each available test has 25 independent practice questions with immediate explanations. Work through the emirate sequence and study its handbook.

Independent study material. Your institute provides the official test and current approved lessons.

Use this light vehicle hub to organise your Dubai RTA theory test preparation. The RTA Knowledge Test is part of the driver licensing process, alongside training and later practical stages. This practice library helps you study the decisions behind road signs, traffic rules and hazard awareness. It does not provide an official RTA question bank or book your appointment.

What this learning path covers

When studying a car question, identify the hazard first: who might move into your path, what can you see, and how much stopping room is available? The safest answer usually follows the sign or signal while leaving time to react. Do not treat a practice score as permission to skip your official handbook or instructor.

Work through signs, signals, pedestrian crossings, junctions, safe gaps and decisions in poor visibility. A light vehicle driver’s task is to look beyond the car directly ahead and leave a safety margin around the vehicle. Before changing direction or speed, check the situation around you and communicate clearly to other road users.

Practise the decision, not the letter

For a car scenario, scan beyond the nearest vehicle. If you see brake lights further ahead, slow in good time and keep room in front. Before turning, look for people crossing and smaller road users alongside the car. A sign or signal tells you what you must do, while the road scene tells you when you can do it safely. Use the review to identify whether you missed the instruction, a hidden hazard or the need for a larger gap.

Mix straightforward signs with situations that combine several hazards. For example, a bus near a crossing can hide a pedestrian. A parked car can conceal a door opening or someone stepping out. Rain and loose sand reduce grip, so the safe answer should avoid sudden controls. These are the kinds of observations that make practice more useful than repeating a memorised option.

Build a sequence that alternates a mixed set with a targeted handbook review. If you missed several questions about junctions, revisit priority and signals before trying the next set. If your errors concern vehicle control, review how speed, surface grip and visibility change the distance needed to stop. This gives each attempt a purpose. Repeating a test immediately without reading why an answer was wrong can make an incorrect assumption feel familiar rather than correct it.

Take the same care with questions you got right by elimination. Explain the answer in your own words and identify why each other option would be unsafe or break an instruction. The review is a learning tool, not just a scorecard.

Before a live driving lesson, turn one missed theory topic into an observation goal. You might watch for where road markings guide a turn, how an instructor leaves space behind a bus, or how early a driver responds to a lower speed limit. Do this as a learner with your instructor, not as an unlicensed driver. Link the written rule to the road scene and ask about any difference you notice between your practice answer and the current official handbook.

Start with a topic you find difficult, read the relevant handbook section, then answer a set without guessing rapidly. The review explains the marked answer and links back to the source. Because conditions differ from question to question, try to understand the principle rather than remember the position of an option.

Practice tests

Each set contains 25 questions. The questions are drawn from a reviewed study bank, so you may see a safety concept again in a later set. That repetition is useful for revision, but the sets are not separate official papers.

How to review a result

Look at every answer, including those you guessed correctly. Group errors into signs, priority, vulnerable road users, vehicle control and hazard anticipation. Return to the relevant part of your official handbook before trying the next set. Where a question seems different from your current instructor’s material, use the current authority guidance and raise it with the instructor.

The practice interface lets you go back before submitting, shows one question at a time and gives an explanation after the result. There is no account requirement for these tests. Practice scores are for self-assessment only; your licensing authority determines the official test and result.

Planning your actual test

Check your learning file and training requirements with your registered driving institute. Dubai applicants should use the RTA’s current Knowledge Test service details for booking and format, including available interpretation services. Do not assume the number of questions or pass threshold on this site matches the official exam; our practice sessions deliberately use 25 questions to make review manageable.

Common questions

Are these official RTA questions?

No. They are independently written study questions, not an official RTA exam bank.

How many questions are in each practice set?

Each of these study sets has 25 questions. The official Knowledge Test format is defined by RTA and can be different.

Can I change an answer?

Yes. Use Back and Next before submitting the set. The result review appears after you submit.

Where can I verify a rule?

Open the handbook link beside the explanation and confirm current requirements with your instructor or RTA.
